Murk Malik - Visual artist

With degrees in Fine Art Painting (2012) and M.A honors in Visual Art (2020) from the National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan, the practice of Hyderabad based artist Murk Malik revolves around a sense of memory through fading or disintegrating imagery. The imagery is filled with a personal visual element of unresolved images of family events from childhood.

The work revolves around the feelings of nostalgia, displacement, loss, and the strong influence of the presence of childhood memories that keep recurring and shaping our future as well. For her, memories are like layers, one upon the other from a pile of them that become a stack of remnants that create nostalgia, as looking at the work one story would release another.
